Christmas 2012

Christmas morning surprised us because Tot slept in. I had to physically drag him out of (our) bed at 8:00 am because I just couldn't wait any longer! He was absolutely adorable while opening his stocking. From the Batman to the Light Up shoes to the apple, he exclaimed with delight with each discovery. "Those are my light up shoes!" "An apple for me!" Santa left Tot a note thanking him for the cookies and remarking at what a good boy Tot had been. Tot carried the note around for the rest of the morning letting everyone know, "I made the good wist!" His joy and innocence were a sight to witness. Teen was 8 on our first Christmas together, so I've never witnessed Pure Toddler Christmas Joy before now. I am definitely a fan. Teen was pleased that Santa remembered his love of Nutella and Biscoff cookies.

Our morning was fun and festive and all the things it's supposed to be. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits, and sausage gravy. Everyone enjoyed opening presents. My most fun gift was a stand mixer. I have already used it twice and love it. I managed to surprise MH with a scope and Teen with a 3D Blue Ray player. Tot's other main gift was a plasma car. Since the weather was yucky, the presence of a plasma car required us to rearrange our breakfast room to allow for maximum available tile surface. We were sad when MH's parents had to leave early due to the weather, but we fully enjoyed our day at home. The sleet turned to snow in the mid afternoon, and after naps for Tot and me, I got up to cook dinner.

We ate shrimp alfredo then ate snickerdoodles then watched Elf. Tot tired of Elf, so he and I went to watch a few minutes of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for a few minutes before bed. I had just taken Tot to bed when the power kicked off at 9:45. The house was warm and the yard was white. We snuggled in and stayed surprisingly warm all through the night. We enjoyed a white Christmas, afterall.
