He has a way with words...

*Last Thursday was particularly challenging for me. I was dealing with some internal conflict, and C had a terrible night at gymnastics. Basically, we were driving each other nuts. His pre-bedtime behavior resulted in the loss of his bedtime book. He was upset, and so was I. I told him that I would rock him for a bit to calm us both down and get him to bed on a better note. While rocking, I asked him what makes him happy and he listed several typical three year old things: Wobot movie, our dog, his stuffed Rudolph.
Then I asked him, "What is your favorite thing in the world?"
"Um, you are."
Someone get this kid a pony.

*Tot has a particular bond with one of our two dogs. She is a funny thing and lets you know if something isn't going to suit her. Saturday morning, she was being particularly vocal, and I couldn't figure out her issue. In frustration, I said, "What IS it, dog?!" Tot said, "No, don't shout at her; she's MY dog!" Then to her all sing-songy, "Awww, it's okay, Pooh."  

*Riding home last night, Tot started naming people in his class. He named several names and then said, "Mommy, I don't know that other one's name."

I asked if he was talking about a kid or a grown-up.

He said, "Not a kid! It's a Maffew, a new Maffew."

Then I asked if HE was a kid or a grown-up to which he replied, "No, I'm a Tot." 

{For the record, MH is a man, not a little boy. I am a girl and a Mommy. He wouldn't entertain woman as an option for me.}

 

*While he was attending to some bathroom business, I asked if he wanted me to stay or go away. He said, "I want you to stay because you are my precious angel." Pony, stat.

*Unrelated to words, but still notable: Tot enjoys cucumber with a dash of salt. I have to say it again, I LOVE to see kids enjoy healthy foods.
