Weeks ago, I made a conscious effort to be on the lookout for the treat sign up form for Tot's Valentine's Day party at daycare. I've been making snickerdoodles lately, and I knew I wanted to make some cookies for his class. MH has recently declared snickerdoodles as his favorite cookie, so I knew they would be a hit with him too. However, as the party day neared, the look of snickerdoodles were not appealing to my red/pink/hearts association of Valentine's Day.
I was almost to the point of purchasing mass-produced-yet-adorable heart shaped sugar cookies decorated with red sugar sprinkles. I even called my friend with whom I was to make the cookies and told her I may be backing out of the "making" part because SPRINKLES!
However, from the start, I wanted to bake cookies, but also in my heart, I wanted cookies that said today is about love and SPRINKLES! Then it hit me: roll the dough in SPRINKLES! I called my friend back and told her we were still in business. Instead of rolling all the dough in traditional cinnamon/sugar mixture, we rolled some of it in red sugar SPRINKLES!* They came out just as cute as the mass produced ones, and I am positive they taste immeasurably better.
MH doesn't share my red obsession, so he received his fair share of traditional cookies. We also made a mixed bag for Teen because even though he love traditional snickerdoodles, he can appreciate some SPRINKLES!
Have a wonderful love filled day - with our without SPRINKLES!
*I've typed the word SPRINKLES! so many times that it's starting to look like a made up word.

Happy Valentine's day! I'm loving all your fun posts this week, well done!
ReplyDeleteSprinkles ALWAYS makes everyone happy! Happy Valentine's day!
ReplyDeleteThat is a genius idea!! I love it!! I also share in the red obsession. I need to have to color (if even a pop) in every room in the house. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and am glad you had a sweet Valentine's Day! Xoxox

Those are super cute! And I don't think I've ever actually had a snickerdoodle.
ReplyDeleteJess, we must fix that! They couldn't be easier to make.
